The newer version of sharepoint , MOSS 2007 has better cross browser compatibility than the older version . It supports the following browswer :

Mozilla 1.7+

Safari 2.0+

Netscape 7.2+

There's support and support ....
Not all SharePoint components behave well for non IE browsers. Project Server 2010 for example will not even load for any non IE browser.
